This class will cover the basics of learning to knit. LEARN TO CROCHET - 3 - 2 hr Classes - 2 sessions available
Whether you're an avid knitter who has never picked up a crochet hook (except for dropped stitches) or never worked with yarn at all, this is a perfect class! In these sessions you'll learn the basics of crochet while creating a scarf. Techniques include: single, double, half double, and triple crochet, Foundation chain, scalloped edge & pattern reading.

BASIC SOCKS

This is a class to teach you how to knit traditional, basic top-down socks. The pattern from Churchmouse Yarns is written for 2 gauges, and will fit a medium adult foot. You’ll be making these socks using 2 circular needles in either fingering or DK/sport weight yarn.
You’ll learn how to knit in the round using 2 circular needles, knit a traditional heel flap, turn a short-row heel, pick up and shape a gusset and finish off a shaped toe with the kitchener stitch. Lots of techniques packed into a little sock!
Techniques include: knitting in the round with 2 circular needles, short rows, picking up stitches, decreasing, Kitchener stitch.

PERSIMMON WRAP

This beautiful “sampler” wrap is made with 4 colors of fingering weight yarn and 6 different textured stitch patterns. You will learn the different patterns that will keep you interested while knitting a long rectangle. When finished, the two long sides are partially joined together to result in a lightweight poncho that will be wearable in every season. Each week we will go over the new upcoming stitch patterns and then as each section is completed, we will move on to the next panel. The directions include both written and charted instructions.
Techniques include: written directions and/or chart reading, simple seaming, color changes.

CABLED HEADBAND

It has been adapted from a free pattern found on Ravelry. Skills you’ll learn include cables, a provisional cast-on and a 3-needle bind off to add to your knitting experience.
This is a quick knit and it’s a perfect item to make for yourself and every woman you know!!

BUILDING BLOCKS Part 1

This blanket is a fun, interesting and rewarding project. The pattern for the class is found in the booklet called Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter. It includes the patterns for 12 blocks, each made with different stitch patterns, which will then be sewn together to make a blanket. In this first session of the class we will make 6 blocks, and in the next 6-class session, we will make the final 6 blocks. The stitch patterns will give you a great introduction to many different skills, which you can then put to good use in future projects!

WENDY'S NIGHT OUT

PULL THE WOOL OVER HAT

Pull the Wool Over is a super simple hat with just the right amount of slouch. Using an aran weight yarn and a strand of coordinating fine mohair held together, your hat will be luxurious and cozy all winter long. It comes in one size which will fit nicely on an average adult head. The hat can be topped off with a snap-on pompom that can be removed for washing.
Techniques include: knitting in the round, knitting with 2 strands of yarn held together, decreasing, knitting small circumference tubes with 2 circular needles (for the very top of the hat)

STORM SWEATER JR.

This adorable pullover is an adaptation from the adult Storm Sweater from PetiteKnit. The pattern comes in 12 different sizes, ranging from 1-2 years up to 12-14 years. It’s knitted seamlessly in DK weight yarn top down, starting with the back yoke, following this designer’s clever method of seamless sweaters. The sleeves are worked in the round and the neckband is a double layer of ribbing. There are 4 different textured Guernsey-style stitch patterns which make up the body and sleeves and because the patterns keep changing, it will keep your interest throughout!
Techniques include: chart reading, picking up stitches, knitting small circumference tubes on 2 circular needles.

SOPHIE HOOD

The Sophie Hood is worked in one piece from tip to tip. It is worked flat, back and forth, in garter stitch (no purling) with built-in i-cord edges. The hood is shaped using increases and decreases, and its back is sewn together at the end, using a simple mattress stitch along the back of the neck. This is an adapted larger version of the original Sophie Scarf. Once you learn these techniques, you could easily knit the scarf as well!

Learn or continue on your Tunisian crochet journey! Tunisian crochet uses a different technique from regular crochet and uses a long shafted hook. Carolyn will teach us different stitches to make blocks which can be made into a scarf, pillow, or continue on to make a throw. We’ll be using worsted yarn and a J Tunisian hook.

This modern cable & moss stitch cardigan is one of the most popular sweaters this past year for a reason. It is knit in 1 piece with elegant details throughout, including an optional polished pocket, tailored button band and loose boxy fit.

These gorgeous mittens are from Skeindeer and are knitted using traditional Norwegian techniques. Inspiration for the design comes from Norwegian winters and is worked in fingering weight yarn while knitting stranded colorwork patterns in 2 contrasting colors.
You’ll be knitting in the round on 2 circular needles and reading a chart to complete the color work. The thumb is picked up and knitted after the main part of the mitten is finished. The ribbed cuff will keep your hands cozy and warm all winter!
Techniques include: knitting small circumference tubes with 2 circular needles, chart reading, stranded color work, picking up stitches.

FIXING MISTAKES PART 1

Take one or both classes for a full understanding of those pesky mistakes we all make and how to turn into into a success!
- Fixing Mistakes - Part 1 - Has this ever happened? It’s Sunday and you’re happily knitting and then you drop a stitch, try to fix it, and drop another, it opens a hole and Yikes! The shop is not open until Tuesday!!! No more. Learning the mechanics of knitting will give you the confidence to correct mistakes.
Learn to fix this and more:
- Picking up dropped stitches on both garter and stockinette
- Untwisting Stitches - What is the Leading Edge?
- Using a Life Line to avoid ripping out to the first stitch
- How to avoid knitting in the wrong direction and how to fix the mistake
- Accidentally creating extra stitches on the edges
Homework:

Fixing your own mistakesHow did that hole appear? Why are some stitches larger than others? What happened that the bind off is so tight? I lost my place on the pattern! These and other mistakes can often be resolved with simple techniques without the dreaded “frogging" (Rip-it, Rip-it). I lost my place on the pattern! Now what?
Learn to:
- Measuring Gauge for a perfect fit
- Fixing holes in the fabric caused by an extra yarn over
- Fixing the look of a row with too large stitches
- Ribbing and Yarn over are different
- Cast On / Bind Off too tight
- Read your work and determine where you left off on the pattern.
