  • HOW TO SIGN UP: To sign up for a class, please use our online store - class payment linked below each class. You can also call the shop 973-377-5648 (KNIT) with payment or come in :) … DURING OUR MOVING WEEK - if you have a problem signing up please email us at info@thebluepurl.com with your phone number and we will assist you, or put you on the waitlist. We are keeping the same phone number but best to email.

  • Refunds for cancellations available only 72 hours before first class.

  • If a class is full, please email or call us to be put on the waitlist. Cancellations often occur.

This scarf is truly a transformation in design. It begins as a solid knitted tube worked in the round and ends as a striped drop stitch scarf/shawl with braided fringe. This design is my interpretation of the Phiaro Scarf by Katie Himmelberg. The project uses a non-stretch fiber such as, silk, cotton, linen, etc (no wool or mohair). Instructions will be provided.

This elegant and versatile wrap is made using traditional fisherman’s stitch patterns. You will learn how to read charts while creating this simple and practical stole. The pattern is written for both DK and worsted weight yarns and could be modified to produce a scarf as well. This is a classic pattern that would be perfect for both men and women and the knitting will be fun and interesting as the stitch patterns change with every section.

Techniques – chart reading, optional alternative bind-offs

This is a quick and easy hat which will be a great way to learn basic hat construction techniques and simple stranded color work. Choose two contrasting colors of DK weight yarn to show off your stitch work!

This little cardigan will work up quickly in DK weight yarn while you learn the basics of top down cardigan construction. A contrasting color is used for the slip stitch detail on the round yoke as well as the ribbed borders. The back neck is shaped using German short rows and the button bands are picked up after the body is completed.

Techniques – German short rows, slipped stitches, decreasing & increasing, picking up stitches, buttonholes, 2 circular needles to create small circumference tubes

This cute and warm headband will knit up quickly in super bulky yarn. It’s the perfect next project for beginner knitters or for someone who just wants instant gratification! It has been adapted from a free pattern found on Ravelry.

Skills you’ll learn include cables, a provisional cast-on and a 3-needle bind off to add to your knitting experience. This is a quick knit and it’s a perfect item to make for yourself and every woman you know!!

In this class you’ll learn to how fix common mistakes, including picking up dropped stitches, changing purls to knits and knits to purls, unknitting, using a lifeline, ripping out stitches and then retrieving them. If you have a particular mistake you’d like to cover, we’ll be taking requests before the class and time permitting, we’ll address those. We all make mistakes – it’s good to know how to fix them!!

Even “seamless” sweaters often have short seams, either on the shoulders or under the arms. In this class you’ll learn how to connect those areas, along with basic seams including mattress stitch, backstitch and Kitchener stitch. Different edges require different techniques and working on pre-knitted swatches, we’ll tackle the ones most commonly used. Join us and take the mystery out of seaming!
