LEARN TO KNIT
Learn the basics of knitting in this 6 week intensive class

This class will cover the basics of learning to knit. You’ll learn basic techniques including casting on, knitting and purling, decreasing, reading a pattern and binding off while making cotton washcloths, simple fingerless mitts and a super cute, super chunky hat. BEGINNING CROCHET

LEARN TO CROCHET - 3 - 2 hr Classes - 2 sessions available
Whether you're an avid knitter who has never picked up a crochet hook (except for dropped stitches) or never worked with yarn at all, this is a perfect class! In these sessions you'll learn the basics of crochet while creating a scarf. Techniques include: single, double, half double, and triple crochet, Foundation chain, scalloped edge & pattern reading.

Ready for Spring flowers? In this popular spring pattern, you will learn & practice stranded colorwork, using both English & Continental knitting at the same time to achieve proper color dominance and even tensioning. After this class, you’ll be fearless colorwork knitter!
Skills Required to join class: Knit, Purl, Cast on, Bind off, Join & Knitting in large & small rounds, Previous experience knitting a basic sweater in the round Comfortable with reading basic charts, fixing your own basic mistakes

This popular cowl is a beautiful example of mosaic knitting. The pattern is The Shift by Andrea Mowry and is available for purchase on Ravelry. It looks like there is color work involved but with this technique you slip stitches and knit with only one color on any given row, so it’s easier than it looks! You’ll use 3 different, contrasting skeins of variegated or solid yarn to create this striking cowl.
Techniques learned – Mosaic knitting, i-cord edging and bind off, simple seam

This approachable sweater is worked in worsted weight yarn in the round, with no seams or assembly required. You will knit a gauge swatch and then learn the basic construction techniques of making a top-down pullover including German short rows, picking up sleeves and knitting seamlessly throughout. There are options for sleeve and body shaping. This is a perfect introduction to seamless sweater making!

This blanket is a fun, interesting and rewarding project. The pattern for the class is found in the booklet called Building Blocks by Michelle Hunter. It includes the patterns for 12 blocks, each made with different stitch patterns, which will then be sewn together to make a blanket. In this first session of the class we will make 6 blocks, and in the next 6-class session, we will make the final 6 blocks. The stitch patterns will give you a great introduction to many different skills, which you can then put to good use in future projects!

This is a class to teach you how to knit traditional top-down socks with added texture. The pattern is free on Ravelry and is written for fingering weight yarn on 2 circular needles. You’ll learn how to knit in the round using 2 circular needles, knit a textured heel flap, turn a short-row heel, pick up and shape a gusset and finish off a shaped toe with the Kitchener stitch. Lots of techniques packed into a little sock!
Techniques include: simple chart, knitting in the round with 2 circular needles, short rows, picking up stitches, decreasing, Kitchener stitch.

Designed by local designer Jennifer Weissman, Tilted Texture is a reversible wrap that is created by knitting bands of different stitch patterns. The piece begins at one point and gradually grows into a right triangle. While increasing stitches, you will knit a variety of textured patterns (charted and written), thus keeping the process interesting. “When Tilted Texture is worn, its lines are tilted on the diagonal, creating a lovely eye-catching effect (and making it look more complicated than it really is).
Although the pattern is written for fingering-weight yarn, sport or even dk-weight yarn on larger needles would be beautiful, too. Just allow yourself extra yardage and expect your shawl to be larger in size.”
