Crochet Swirl Granny Square - This is a unique square that uses 2-3 colors and the swirl is worked in both colors simultaneously. Make an adorable baby afghan by repeating the pattern and connecting the squares.

This class will cover the basics of learning to knit. We’ll learn how to cast-on, knit, purl, read a pattern and bind off while making these cotton washcloths. If time permits, we’ll make 2 or 3 different cloths – we’ll see how it goes! Class size is small so we can provide lots of support.

This is an elegant, snuggly cowl that is done in 3 colors of fingering weight yarn using a fun and easy eyelet pattern for the outer layer, followed by a color pop at the upper edge and a lovely striped lining that peeks through the eyelets. Because it’s entirely knitted in the round, there are only a few ends to weave in. The pattern is for a large, double-wrapped cowl. I’ll be teaching a slightly modified cowl, with fewer stitches for a tighter fit.

Techniques include: provisional cast on, knitting in the round, simple lace pattern, 3-needle bind off.

This worsted weight baby cardigan is knit in one piece from the top down and uses raglan construction. While knitting a baby garment, you will the learn the basics of top-down seamless knitting that can be applied to your future adult sweaters.

These beautiful mittens are worked in 3 colors of fingering weight yarn and depict a traditional Scandinavian winter scene. Jul is the Scandinavian Christmas time, and natt translates to night. The image shows the peace of dark snowy Scandinavian winter nights. You’ll be learning how to knit in the round on 2 circular needles and knit color work from a chart. There is no Christmas symbolism on these mittens, so you can enjoy these all winter long.

This gorgeous blanket is the second project in Michelle Hunter’s samplers series. It introduces new stitches and techniques while using multiple colors of DK or worsted weight yarn. There are 10 different panels which are then seamed together to make an heirloom blanket. The panels are arranged in a sequence that is designed to build the knitters’ skills while creating a colorful blanket. The last 2 classes will be devoted to seaming and picking up the edging. This is a 12- session class, which will meet every other week for 5 months.

Techniques taught include: intarsia, double-ended knitting, slip stitch patterns, short rows, cables, and more!

Crosby is a women’s cabled henley pullover with a shirt-tail hem and a stand-up collar. It’s made in worsted weight yarn, worked flat in pieces from the bottom up and seamed together. The collar is then picked up and added after the assembly is completed. From the pattern: “ABOUT THIS DESIGN - A sleek henley with a split hem makes a beautiful top layer for fall. Crosby is embellished front and back with twisted diamond motifs and densely worked cables, all of which can be worked either from charts or from written descriptions. This pullover is designed for a few inches of ease to layer over button-down shirts or dresses for a handsome, lengthening effect.” This sweater will be a staple in your winter wardrobe!

Learn how to knit traditional, basic top-down socks. The pattern from Churchmouse Yarns is written for 2 gauges, and will fit a medium adult foot. Using either fingering or DK/sport weight yarn, you’ll learn how to knit in the round using 2 circular needles, knit a traditional heel flap, turn a short-row heel, pick up and shape a gusset and finish off a shaped toe with the kitchener stitch. Lots of techniques packed into a little sock!

This class is designed for those knitters who have completed “Learn to Knit” and are looking to expand their skills. We’ll be at the table and you can choose either a simple hat or cowl knitted in worsted weight yarn which will advance your knitting progress by learning how to knit in the round. The cowl is a snug little neck warmer for men or women and the hat is a basic hat with an interesting stitch pattern to match the cowl. The hat requires shaping at the top, so even if you’ve chosen to make the cowl, you’ll learn how to decrease the crown of a hat.

OMA Granny Pullover – If a crochet sweater is on your bucket list, here is a simple pullover to make in pieces. This is a simple granny square using 3 colors in a central splash of color surrounded by a solid color. The sweater is shaped using 3 different variations of the same square. This pattern can also be adapted to a cardigan by adjusting the square design down the center front and also made longer.

Learn to: make the 3 different granny shapes, joining squares, reading a pattern and chart. We also have scheduled an optional class Nov. 2 if needed.

This hat is described by the designer as “the project for knitters taking their first foray into cable knitting.” It’s a classic design which features basic stitches, simple shaping and a 4-stitch cable.

You’ll learn to read a chart, shape a hat, knit in the round and make cables. The top of the hat will be shaped using the 2 circular method for knitting small circumference tubes. There are 5 variations of this pattern that are included in a downloadable companion so after completing this class you will be able to continue and expand your hat making!
