Maple cardigan designed by Marie Wallin

Level:  Advanced intermediate
Instructor: Keri Samuels
Dates: Saturdays, Jan. 11, 25, Feb. 8, 22
Time: 9-10:30 AM  last class 2 hours
Pattern: Available on Ravelry

The Maple cardigan is knitted using 10 different colors and incorporates fair isle and intarsia techniques to create this intricate sweater.  This is a bottom-up cardigan, knitted in pieces and seamed together in the traditional method of sweater construction. The button bands and neckband are picked up and knitted at the end of the project.

The pattern was originally published in a Rowan magazine but is now available individually from Ravelry.   The techniques that will be covered are: fair isle colorwork, intarsia (use of bobbins), seaming (3 types of seams), and picking up stitches.  You will not only learn how to knit this beautiful sweater, but also how to finish it!

We have suggestions for 3 different colorways or you can be creative and design your own!

From the Knit Rowan website:
Knit this ladies’ intarsia and fairisle cardigan, a design from the Rowan archive that is now available to purchase online. A design by Marie Wallin using our wonderfully tweedy yarn Felted Tweed DK (wool, alpaca and viscose) this simply shaped, round neck cardigan has a stripe sequence on the sleeves, ribbing and bands.

Fiesta Feet 314 by Lucy Neatby

Level: Advanced - Experienced knitter
Instructor: Carolyn Hanson
Dates: Wednesdays Jan. 8, 15, 22 (snow day Jan 29)
Time: 7-9 PM
Pattern: Purchased on Ravelry

Skills taught: Bobbles, colorwork, stranded knitting, fancy stitches, kitchner toe closure, heel turning, gussets

A little explanation:  These are my favorite socks to make and wear.  Chock full of design elements in two colors, they will keep your attention and get you excited for the next pattern change. Pick a solid and a variegated sock yarn from the many choices available. There is a bit of homework to start the project, a simple garter stich band for the sock top made by alternating the 2 colors.  This will set the stage for the first class, making bobbles.  Also, the band is your gauge swatch to select your size.  The sock height can be adjusted.

Supply List: Purchase pattern on Ravelry, scissors, ruler, stitch markers, tapestry needle, [Optional – For Crocheters - size 2mm or 2.25 mm crochet hook for crocheted bobbles]
Yarn & yardage:  3 skeins Koigu Painter's Palette Premium Merino (KPPPM)  - 2 solid  and 1 variegated
Needle size:  Sizes 0, 1 or 2 double points or circular needles (magic loop)
